The African Union has declared 2022 to be “the Year of Nutrition and Food Security.” While Africa has increased food security and nutrition under the framework of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP), challenges related to hunger, food insecurity, and nutrition persist. International and regional conflicts, climate change, and the COVID-19 pandemic have highlighted the need for a continent-wide approach to mitigating problems of food insecurity and malnutrition.
This event will engage policymakers and experts from Africa and the United States in a discussion of Africa’s progress, challenges and policy priorities on food security and nutrition, and how to enhance U.S.-AU cooperation on these issues.
